Teaser Tuesday: His Darkest Embrace by Juliana Stone

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

Grab your current read
Open to a random page
Share two "teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! Share the title and author, too, so that others can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

(E-ARC provided by NetGalley)

His Darkest Embrace (Avon)
He settled in to listen and to observe, pushing the bolt of excitement to the back of his mind, knowing he needed to play it cool and smart, or else his life could be on the line.

I'm intrigued - thanks for sharing this! Here's mine from the book, "Secrets of a Mysterious Older Woman," by Constance Feathers, which is a humorous account of her mid-life divorce. It's one of those books you can’t resist passing around:

The funeral was a great success, even though his friends were all busy bowling so his mom had to give the eulogy. That was appropriate, since she was the one who liked him.
