Blog Tour Interview & Giveaway: The Vampire's Warden

Welcome to this stop of The Vampire's Warden by S.J. Wright! You can read my review of The Vampire's Warden HERE. Today, S.J. Wright stopped by to answer a few questions and offer a little giveaway!

The Vampire's Warden (Undead in Brown County #1)Amazon Blurb of The Vampire Warden
It was a flash in the moonlight, a blur of motion like I’d never witnessed before. No human had the capacity to move like that. When I found myself face-to-face with him there in the meadow, I knew without a doubt that the journal was authentic. I knew that my grandfather hadn’t been crazy at all. Because a foot away from me stood a vampire. Sarah Brightman reads her grandfather's journal in stunned disbelief. What was once her grandfather's responsibility has passed to her father and now to her. She has become the Warden. Her life will never be the same.

Q. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

A. Thanks for having me, Kelsey! I am a stay-at-home married Mom. I’m forty years old and have two sons. Cameron, who is 4 years old, has spina bifida, and my son Devan is 16 and will be a junior in high school this fall. We live in Little Elm, Texas, but my husband and I are both originally from Indiana.

Q. Can you tell us about your book, The Vampire’s Warden?

A. It’s a story about an uncommon young woman who discovers that she’s been saddled with a very unusual responsibility. Sarah grew up believing her mother had died when Sarah was just a little girl. At the beginning of the book, we find out that her mother is still alive. She goes through a lot of emotional turmoil throughout the book.

Q. Who was the hardest character to write in your book?

A. Michael is difficult. He’s totally worth it, but it’s hard to fit the words together to accurately describe who and what he is all about.

Q. What was your favorite part of the writing process of this book?

A. The scenes between Michael and Sarah were so fun to write. The chemistry between the two of them is always there. It kept me pushing forward to discover what else was possible.

Q. What is coming up next for you?

A. The second book of the Undead in Brown County series is called The Vampire’s Curse. I’m almost halfway through the writing process for that one. It’s going to be released around the end of May. I’m very excited about getting this one out there to my readers!

Q. What is the most interesting comment you have received so far concerning The Vampire’s Warden?

A. One reader left me a great review on Barnes & Noble, but made the comment that Sarah was also called “I”. It was actually an editing error that has since been fixed, but I thought it was kind of funny.

Q. What has been the best advice you have ever been given?

A. My sister Beth gave me a bag of 40 pencils for my 40th birthday, and on the front of the bag was written, “Forty pencils, so you never stop writing.” That was the point at which I realized that I might be able to write a book that people would like.

Q. Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?

A. Know who you are writing for and always be polite when responding to anybody about your book. Read a lot of books that are in the genre that you want to break into. Get involved with a group of writers, even if they don’t write the same thing that you do.

Q. Do you have any pet peeves you want to share?

A. I absolutely hate mopping floors.

Q. When you aren’t writing, what do you like to do?

A. I love to read. When I get the chance, I love to travel.
