Just finished Moon Called by Patricia Briggs

Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1) Moon Called by Patricia Briggs

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Loved it! Can't wait to read the next!

DESCRIPTION
Werewolves can be dangerous if you get in their way, but they'll leave you alone if you are careful. They are very good at hiding their natures from the human population, but I'm not human. I know them when I meet them, and they know me, too.

Mercy Thompson's sexy next-door neighbor is a werewolf.

She's tinkering with a VW bus at her mechanic shop that happens to belong to a vampire.

But then, Mercy Thompson is not exactly normal herself ... and her connection to the world of things that go bump in the night is about to get her into a whole lot of trouble.

Today's Mail

Life with My Sister Madonna
Today in the mail I received Life with My Sister Madonna
If anyone has read it, please let me know what you thought of it. Right now it is in my to-read pile.

DESCRIPTION
Madonna up close, by the brother who knows her better than anyone.
Christopher Ciccone's extraordinary memoir is based on his forty-seven years of growing up with, working with, and understanding the most famous woman of our time, who has intrigued, scandalized, and entertained millions for half a century.
Through most of the iconic star's kaleidoscopic career, Christopher played an important role in her life: as her backup dancer, her personal assistant, her dresser, her decorator, her art director, her tour director.
If you think you know everything there is to know about Madonna, you are wrong. Only Christopher can tell the full scale, riveting untold story behind Madonna's carefully constructed mythology, and the real woman behind the glittering facade.
From their shared Michigan childhood, which Madonna transcended, then whisked Christopher to Manhattan with her in the early eighties, where he slept on her roach-infested floor and danced with her in clubs all over town — Christopher was with her every step of the way, experiencing her first hand in all her incarnations. The spoiled daddy's girl, the punk drummer, the raunchy Boy Toy, Material Girl, Mrs. Sean Penn, Warren Beatty's glamorous Hollywood paramour, loving mother, Mrs. Guy Ritchie, English grande dame — Christopher witnessed and understood all of them, as his own life was inexorably entwined with that of his chameleon sister.
He tangled with a cast of characters from artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, to Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Moss, Demi Moore, and, of course, Guy Ritchie, whose advent in Madonna's life splintered the loving relationship Christopher once had with her.
The mirror image of his legendary sister, with his acid Ciccone tongue, Christopher pulls no punches as he tells his astonishing story.
Life with My Sister Madonna is the juicy, can't-put-it-down story you've always wanted to hear, as told by Madonna's younger brother.

Book Giveaway: The Starlet by Mary McNamara

Author:  Mary McNamara
Publication Date:  June 8, 2010
Publisher:  Simon & Schuster

It’s a not-so-well-respected rule in Hollywood that what happens on location stays on location. But when a hot young leading man winds up dead in his Rome hotel room, his costar’s life is about to go off the rails in a very public way—even by celeb standards.

At the tender age of twenty-three, Mercy Talbot has won an Oscar, battled addiction, wrecked more than her share of cars, and burned down her house. Her look-alike mother keeps her on a tight leash (and fueled with an endless supply of OxyContin and cocaine) and her producers demand a grueling schedule. By the time she stumbles across Juliette Greyson, a Hollywood insider on a much-needed vacation, Mercy is surrounded by photographers and about to emerge drunk, high, and naked from a public fountain. Whisking her away to an idyllic Tuscan ‘retreat,’ Juliette is about to discover another rule of Hollywood: wherever the starlet may go, the drama will follow.

Just Finished Every Which Way But Dead

Every Which Way But Dead (Rachel Morgan/The Hollows, #3)

"There's no witch in Cincinnati tougher, sexier, or more screwed up than bounty hunter Rachel Morgan, who's already put her love life and soul in dire jeopardy through her determined efforts to bring criminal night creatures to justice." "Between "runs," she has her hands full fending off the attentions of her blood drinking partner, keeping a deadly secret from her backup, and resisting a hot new vamp suitor." "Rachel must also take a stand in the war that's raging in the city's underworld, since she helped put away its former vampire kingpin - and made a deal with a powerful demon to do so that could cost her an eternity of pain, torment, and degradation." And now her dark "master" is coming to collect his due.

Today in the mail

Today in the mail I got this book: Dead and Alive
Dead and Alive (Dean Koontz's Frankenstein, #3)
I have the first two so now I am ready to read the series!

Book Giveaway!

Book Giveaway: Shiver & Linger by Maggie Stiefvater, click here!

About Shiver:

For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human... until the cold makes him shift back again.

Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human—or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

About Linger:
This is the story of a boy who used to be a wolf and a girl who was becoming one.

Just a few months ago, it was Sam who was the mythical creature. His was the disease we couldn't cure. His was the good-bye that meant the most. He had the body that was a mystery, too strange and wonderful and terrifying to comprehend.

But now it is spring. With the heat, the remaining wolves will soon be falling out of their wolf pelts and back into their human bodies. Sam stays Sam, and Cole stays Cole, and it's only me who's not firmly in my own skin.

Another Day

Another day gone...:( Was sunny all day! Work was pretty hectic but now I am home and can relax..:) My cats are lounging in the sun and I am going to get started with my book. The book I am reading now is Every Which Way But Dead by Kim Harrison. I read it a few years back but I wanted to read the series in order so now I have finally made it to book 3...:) I have also been reading Secrets of the Tudor Court by D.L. Bogdan on my Kindle. I love anything that is written about the Tudors. Such an interesting period of time! Well better get to reading!

Just Finished Nefertiti

Nefertiti Nefertiti by Michelle Moran

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I loved reading about Egypt and the pharaohs. The only thing was that I thought this book was about Nefertiti but really it was about her sister Mutnodjmet. It wasn't a horrible book but I wanted to read it from Nefertiti's point a view. But I still gave it 4 out of 5 stars because it kept my attention throughout the book.

First Time

Well, this is the first time I have ever done this....I thought I would give it a try..:) Yesterday I worked on more of my family tree...I am already back to the 1700's! We also went fishing later in the afternoon. Troy caught a sunny and I caught a small northern. Had time to read some more of my book. Right now I am reading Nefertiti. We then went out to his brother campsite and sat around the fire for awhile. Very nice night with a slight breeze. It did sprinkle for about 2 minutes.
