I recently read my first book by Scott Nicholson called Transparent Lovers. (review HERE) I was instantly drawn into this story! It was creative and fun as if you can't tell my the author's photo which he sent along with his interview answers..LOL I will definitely be reading more books by him. Scott has also so graciously answered some questions for me AND wants to give you a chance to win a signed paperback copy (US) and e-book version (international) of Thank You For the Flowers. See the details below!
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m just a simple guy who likes writing and gardening. I’ve been really lucky to be doing this at probably the best time in history and to be able to easily reach so many people, and I am grateful for the readers who spend time with me.
Can you tell us about your book Transparent Lovers?
That book started out a number of years back and a publisher wanted it but went out of business. I revised it and expanded it over the years, and then it was published in hardcover by PS Publishing and I released the ebook myself. I enjoyed the idea of a dead character having to set things right with limited abilities.Who was the hardest character to write in Transparent Lovers?
My bad guys are usually the most fun to write, but I think Lee was the most challenging because she had to be good and supportive yet not meek. When you love a jerk, you don’t want to be a sucker. What was your favorite part of the writing process of Transparent Lovers?
Taking totally different approaches in the rewrites. The book really came together when I added the dead wife as a character—and the wife’s opportunity for revenge from beyond the grave. What is coming up next for you?
I am working on the sequel to my thriller Liquid Fear. Chronic Fear will be out in late June, and there’s a third one in the series coming out in the fall. I’m also doing a young-adult vampire novel with H.T. Night and J.R. Rain. What is the most interesting comment you have received so far concerning Transparent Lovers?
That it’s one of the few stories I’ve written not set in the Appalachian Mountains. What has been the best advice you have ever been given?
Keep your head down and write.Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
Keep your head down and write. But that’s already been taken, so I will add to be true to your vision and trust your creative soul.Do you have any pet peeves you want to share?
Hmm. Not really. Except people who take pleasure in making other people feel bad.
When you aren’t writing, what do you like to do?
Organic gardening is my big passion. I am a seed saver so I have a lot to learn about plants and food.ABOUT THE AUTHOR (from website)
Author Scott Nicholson has written 12 thrillers, 60 short stories, four comics series, and six screenplays. He's also a freelance editor and journalist. He lives in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, where he tends an organic garden, successfully eludes stalkers, and generally lives the dream. He's online at www.hauntedcomputer.com.
Nicholson has written hundreds of songs and poems and was a musician in a former life. a newspaper reporter, he's won three North Carolina Press Association awards. He's had the usual collection of odd jobs: dishwasher, carpenter, painter, paranormal investigator, baseball card dealer, and radio announcer. Now he haphazardly trades words for magic beans and uses "haphazardly" as often as possible while decrying the overuse of adverbs.
Entering the digital era with a vengeance, Nicholson is relasing orginal titles and collections while conspiring to release interactive books in the near future, building audio files, video, and collaborative fiction projects. He operates Haunted Computer Books and Indie Books Blog to bring a variety of voices to readers.
Nicholson won the grand prize in the international Writers of the Future contest in 1999. That same year, he was first runner-up for the Darrell Award. He studiedCreative Writing at Appalachian State University and UNC-Chapel Hill. He has been an officer of Mystery Writers of America and Horror Writers Association and is a member of International Thriller Writers and inaugural member of the Killer Thriller Band.
Unfortunately, they never taught him to write: he had 105 rejections before his first story sale and over 400 before he sold a novel. He hasn't learned much from his mistakes but thinks he'll probably improve with practice. If nothing else, he's become a better liar.
His website www.hauntedcomputer.com features author interviews, articles, and fiction excerpts. Bad relationship advice. Humor. Gardening tips. Subliminal tricks to sell his books. That sort of thing.
